Surgeon Visit Yesterday- February 8th, 2006Views: 187

February 8th, 2006
Hi All,

Nothing but good news. The surgeon said the 2 new spots he saw on the CT Scan were only cysts. The 2 tumor spots on my liver have shrunk less than 1 cm each and were mostly dead cells. They were up to 4cm each when I started chemo.

Yeah, the chemo worked. They will do the Radiofrequency Ablation surgery on Feb. 22nd at Moffitt Cancer Hospital. Dr Shibata my GI Surgeon and who I refer to as my guardian angel says I will only be in the hospital 4 or 5 days then recovering at home for about 6 weeks. (I say probably 3)

This surgery is much less risky than the original plan removing 80% of my liver. Doing this would have me at risk for liver failure.

So needless to say I am very relieved. I will have to do more chemo after surgery but then I will be done.

I feel great and get more energy everyday.

I wanted to let everyone know I ran across a great website that has products like the new “cancer sucks” wrist bands and t-shirts, sweatshirts, coffee cups and a lot of extra gifts and items. 20% of all they sell goes to cancer research and the person that started it all recently passed away from cancer. Her friends and family took it up and are continuing the work she started. The website is www.choosehope.com I got a gift for my surgeon (Dr Shibata) that has a “cancersucks” coffee mug, button and some candy in it. He loved it and said he will have his coffee in it every morning.

More later, thanks for stopping by. Donna
