Hurray,Hurray,

Hello I am Donna’s sister, Susan and she asked to keep everyone posted while she is under the knife. She had her surgery today and is in the hospital. The news everyone dreamed of has arrived. No More CANCER, the doctor says he got it all and does not see anything more. So all your prayers and well wishes has come true. She will be in the hospital for 5 days. Donna is at Moffitt Cancer center in Florida. Where she has has received the treatment she deserves we could not ask for better care. After recovery Donna will be receiving another round of Chemo for insurance.

Please post your comments and well wishes as I will be passing them along to her while she is in the hospital and help speed her recovery.

Thank you to everyone thoughtfulness

Susan

1 Week Post Surgery

March 2nd, 2006

Hi All,

I am home recovering. A lot of pain but I don’t think it is quite as bad as the colon resection.

Moffitt Hospital was great, the nurses and my doctor Dr. Shibata. What a far cry from when I was at Countryside Hospital for the colon resection.

I appreciate all the prayers and as of now I am CANCER FREE. I know there is a 60% chance of it returning and I still have to go through chemo again but I don’t even want to think of that for now.

My mother is here taking great care of me and spoiling me rotten. My husband has been great through all of this and I hope to be back to work in the next 3 weeks or so.

I am adding a picture of the liver surgery incision but if you are squeamish don’ t look. Will add more soon.

Feeling Much Better!

March 13th, 2006

Hi All,

I get the staples from surgery out tomorrow and see the chemo doctor on Thursday.

I am feeling pretty good. I hope to be back to work soon. I’ll see what the doctor says tomorrow.

Hopefully, I won’t have to do chemo very long. I just have my fingers crossed that this nightmare is over and the cancer will not come back.

I guess that the fear of a re-occurance (sp?) is common after having any kind of cancer. The threat is always there but I am going to try my best not to dwell on it.

I have been given a gift and I intend on making the most of it.

More soon Donna

Went To Doctor For Follow Up

April 5th, 2006

Doctor says I look great. I feel pretty good to. I have been going to work a little. Moffitt Cancer Center is setting me up with a Pet Scan and Cat Scan. They should give me the dates tomorrow.

Then he said I could start back to chemo (UGGH)

I said just a cycle or 2? He says probably more like 6 months.

That will suck, but I will get thru it.

I am going to try to work as much as possible through it and then I will be done. Unless it comes back which I refuse to let it do.

I haven’t posted anything for a while because I really don’t know what to say at this point.

If you come across any doctors that give you negative news see another then another… until you find one that says “we can do this” If I would have listened to my first 5 doctors I would be dead by now instead of being officially cancer free.

More later….Donna

More Scans

April 14th, 2006

Hi All,

I had a Catscan and Petscan done yesterday. I am waiting for the results then more chemo (UGHH!)

I feel pretty good lately; my energy is coming back finally, little by little.

I am thinking about doing the Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society for cancer research. I don’t know how far I can make it, but I’d like to try.

If you are interested in when and where the next one will be in your area. You can go to the American Cancer Society’s website at cancer.org and click on Relay for Life and see what is happening around you.

They have these relays happening all around the world and it’s kind of nice to see the pictures. Like the world is raising money for research.

I will let everyone know what the results are on the scans. Hopefully the doctor was right and they got it all.

Have a great weekend…Donna
