Bad Week - With Pictures -Friday Febuary 17, 2007Views: 294

Last Saturday I started having severe pain which I knew was a kidney stone. I had one before. They say it is as close to giving birth as a man can get and I agree except it is only on one side. Anyway I didn’t want to go to the ER and sit for hours so I decided to try to wait it out. I drank about a gallon of water and finally threw up then it started subsiding a little. Monday I went to my doctor who sent me straight to the hospital for a CT scan. Since I had a liver resection 5 weeks earlier they wanted to be sure it didn’t have to do with that.
I knew I had passed the stone by then but it still hurt under my ribs from the front around to the back.
After the scan they told me they did not see a stone but there seems to be a lot of abcess in and around my liver.
The next day I was seeing my surgeon at Moffitt so they just wanted me to take the scan to him and see what they should do.
My surgeon looked at it Tuesday and said they would have to stick a tube in and drain the fluid out. They may have to leave the tube in place for a few days to a week to drain all the fluid.
They scheduled it for Thursday. It was extremely painful, they only did a local to numb it which of course it didn’t. My doctor told me they would put me out but that didn’t happen. So today I have a tube stuck between my ribs, 3 feet of surgical tubing and an iv bag that brown stuff is draining from my liver into. No antibiotics since they don’t know what it is yet. .....And how was your week…
For those of you that like grusom pics I posted some on the right side under attached media. I don’t know how to put it in post.
I am still in quite a bit of pain so I think I will get back into bed after this.
More news soon…
