Busy Day Today - June 6, 2007Views: 272

Today I have an MRI on my shoulder and a CT scan at Moffitt where they are also going to check on this infection on my side to see if it is closing up yet.
The MRI is because I was almost feeling back to normal (well a new normal) and overdid it working in the yard. I was pulling a tree out of a 1/2 barrel container that it didn’t want to come out of and I planted it in the yard.
All was fine until 3am when I woke up sreaming and crying. The pain was so intense. Like lightning hitting my shoulder then going down my arm. I knew that pain instantly. The damaged nerves in my shoulder from a botched port attempt. (photo in gallery to right)I guess didn’t like working in the garden and decided to let me know it.
I tried Ibuprophen, Tylenol, Ice, heat and nothing would ease the pain at all. I had a few oxycodone left from surgery and tried that still nothing. My husband had a few vicodin and that finally eased it a little. I was able to get a few hours of sleep.
I went to the ER on Saturday. They did an x-ray and let me know nothing was broken ( I told them that already, but I guess they wanted to find out for sure)
they gave me a shot of demoral which helped a little. They told me I needed to see an orthopedist for a cortisone shot and I asked why they couldn’t do it there. Apparently orthopedist have a lock on that particular drug going into your shoulder. Weird..
I saw the ortho and he agrees that the original problem was the botched port surgery ( not put that way of course) he wanted to do an MRI to see if he should also go poking around in there and see what problems he could start up.
If by the slightest chance my CT scan comes back clean today I will be able to do a clinical trial at moffitt for a vaccine for colon cancer which I would be more than willing to be a guinny pig for.
I will keep you poeted after the scan.

Gal I am so sorry you had to go through that. Some times they don’t know what to do.

Feel bettersoon

Busy day is right. Hope you were able to get some rest. Let us know how your scans turn out.
