Out of Work and Going Out Of My HeadViews: 261

Hi all,
I got laid off last week. The boss said it was because business was slow. I think he was afraid my husband would be laid off and I would get on his company insurance and the rates would go up.
Nothing like kicking someone when they are down. On one hand I am glad to leave. There is a lot of things going on there I just didn’t think I could live with. I had been talking about leaving for awhile. It wasn’t a healthy work environment.
On the other hand, I had been there 3 years and I was good at my job and was very comfortable with the work. Not so the people.
I am going to try to work from home enough to make up the difference. I was really getting to the point that I couldn’t handle a 40 hr week anymore.
If anyone has any information on disability please let me know. I know one thing they ask for is your latest reports and notes from your doctors that say this will end in death. This is not a problem, I can get that.
Unemployment which I just signed up for is only $275.00/wk. That is the max you can get in Florida. I was making $760/wk so that is tough. I think Disability has a rule that you have to be making less than $900./mo unemployment would put me over unless they don’t count that because it is not perm income. Anyone out there checked into it and know what the rules are?
Thanks
Donna

Donna – I can’t believe that. That is so tough. I think I would be going out of my head as well. If it is not a healthy environment though, I am glad you are out of there. Thinking of you.

Hey Donna. So sorry to hear about your job. Maybe it is better if it wasn’t a great environment!

My mom filed for disability. I know it was a lot of paperwork but with the doctor’s notes and everything it all went through. She gets the check—it is a pretty nice check too. You deserve it! We live in NY though so I am sure it is different. Let me know if you need any info—if it could help—I could find out for you.

Donna, first I am so sorry to hear about your lay off 2nd I have a 800 number you call about S.S disability Ins. they can answer your question. 800-772-1213 good luck and remember everything happens for a reason so this might turn out to be a good thing.
I also what to thank you for responding to my question on the chemo drug. I am to start it on Thurs of this week but my insurance co.it giving me a hard time they want to charge me 384.95 per dose. I can not afford this My Dr. is working on it so I might not be able to go on it right away.
The advice is great I think I can get through 2 weeks after 2 month of the experimental drug I was on. I will keep you posted and pray that everything works out for the best for you. Thanks again for being a friend
Cheryl

Stage 4, what a club we are in. I am going through some anger right now due to the pain, but on the positive side I feel exactly as you do. My stage 4 pictures are similar to yours and yet my husband loves me and his only comment is “I am so sorry” Energy level has made my life all about reflection and your strength has made me strong. Thanks, sharron

Donna, You have really had a rough time with the cancer and then your company treating you so badly. It is a shame that it is that way but many companies no longer want you when you get sick. I agree that insurance is the reason in many cases. I received my disability in 1996. It took a while but I finally got it. Any info I gave you after 12 years probably wouldn’t be accurate. I just wanted to tell you I am sorry you are having such a rough time. I will remember you in my prayers. Prayers and a loving family are the only thinga that kept me going over the years. Hang in there the best you can. Love and hugs, Joyce
