| My Book is Finally Available | Views: 206 |
After over a year of hard work, it is finally done and available through the publisher. The book will be available on Amazon and in bookstores in about 4 weeks. I have had a lot of sleepless nights over the past month trying to work on the finishing touches.
Cancer, Chemo and Beyond – Survivors and Their Unique Journeys – You can read more about it at www.DonnasCancerStory.com
There is a link to the publisher and you can read all about the book there.
On the cancer front, I started having Hospice do house visits this week. Not that I plan on dying anytime soon, I actually feel pretty good lately. There is nothing that the doctors can do anymore and they have been trying to talk me into it for over a year but I didn’t think it was necessary.
I never realized it was free and I finally was talked into it because they can get you your meds for free and times are really tough right now. Since being laid off in February our household income went from $4500/mo to $2000/mo. Unemployment helped a little but it ran out about a month ago. I am working on the paperwork for Soc. Sec Disability but I know that will take awhile.
I am going on that cruise to Belize compliments of my friend Sharon next week. I can’t wait, it will be so much fun. I will be sure to post some pictures when I get back. So, I am still enjoying life as much as I can and I never regret quitting chemo a year ago. It was making me so sick, I am sure I would be dead by now if I would have continued. A body can only take so much.
Hope everyone is feeling good
Donna

I understand about the chemo. It is tough and you are right. Your body can only take so much.
You are a brave and courageous lady and I admire you. I can’t wait to read your book.
Have a wonderful time on your cruise.
My love, thoughts and prayers are with you.
Many hugs,
Joyce
Dear Donna; I was so happy to hear that you will be having the support of hospice, which the government provides. That is the same here in Canada (Ontario). Each province has their own medical board. Ours is called OHIP, Ontario Health Insurance Plan. Both my mother, father and stepmother were taken care of at home. There is also hospice provided in quite a few hospitals and there are private hospice centres too. Toronto has a population of 3 million so you can imagine the need. It is very helpful to have this support as a patient and for family. I pray you have a great team of people for your care. I too am looking forward to reading your book. I was wondering why you couldn’t sell some of the books yourself so that you could provide some extra income for yourself, or is that not allowed? I’m sure most of us on this site would buy from you directly with a money order. Just a thought. I hope you have an exciting adventure in Belize or if not, a restful one. I was looking through all your photos and realizing just how much you have gone through not to mention the dreaded chemo. I think you are a very strong person for having endured so much. You are a testament to others that one can rise above the wall of great tests. May you be guided by sunlight. Weezie

Weezie,
I just added PayPal from my site. So it can be purchased directly from me then I can ship. The only thing is I buy my books at a discount plus shipping then will pay shipping out may leave me in the whole but I will try it for awhile. I think people get overwhelmed with the publishers shopping cart and all the shipping options and change their minds.
Donna,
What an amazing and strong woman you are. To be going through what you have indured and be able to publish a book. I will immediately put that on my list to purchase. I am very glad that you have Hospice. I worked for Hospice for several years and when I was diagnosed I had such amazing support from all of the friends I had made there with the Nurses, social workers, chaplain and the Director. I cared for more than 100 patients while I was so fortunate to have got to know, enjoy and learn so much about life from such wonderful courgeous people that was facing more than I ever could comprehend. These wonderful people became my heros. Such a complete reversal from my other job working nights in a Level 1 Trauma Center in St. Louis. I am on disability, I don’t know how you have applied for it, but I am sure that the social worker that you have at Hospice can direct you. If, you do have any difficulties, please feel free to contact me if your social worker is not able to do so. Bhappy4ever6@aol.com is my e-mail address and I can get in touch with you immediately.I made an amazing friend that was a social worker with Hospice, her husband owns a company by the name of Allsop, Inc. They have 4 offices throughout the country. Jeanne actually told me that her husband Jim’s business that all they do is disability and social security was going to take care of my disability at no chage at all. How blessed I was to have such an amazing friend. One of the nurses that I worked with is now actually just began receiving her disability and she went through Allsop, Inc. If you need any help at all, I can call and see if you can get some help with it. Enjoy that cruise! You have a great friend…. You will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need assistance with your disability. God Bless, Patty
I hope you are doing well Donna. I just ordered your book and can’t wait to get it. Thank you for inspiring thousands of people on your journey.
